The mining industry, especially in Africa, has to implement solutions that can withstand harsher-than-normal environments. This typically requires a more expensive, rugged hardware solution and needs to cater for on-the-fly repairs and in-field servicing, mostly by non-technical users. The Cradle mining industry labelling solution takes that into account. It is possible to get cheaper hardware and less-suitable labels, but in the long run, this will negatively affect the solution and the smooth running of the operations. Cradle has packaged a printer recommendation with the necessary connectivity, catering for the mine store requirements.
Together with the printer, it supplies a spares package and training on implementation to service these printers, and indeed, the entire solution. It has identified a set of labels that is well suited to the mines. The materials are rugged and can withstand outdoor, long-term usage; the adhesive is tough and can handle both heat and dust; and the variety is suited to the different challenges in the mines. Finally, the software solution is built on the industry-leading Bartender software package.
The enterprise automation edition allows for multiple printers and ensures the labels can be designed, changed and managed on site or remotely.
