Minister awaiting fraud report
Canadian transport Minister Lawrence Cannon expects a report by the end of this week on concerns about fraud centred on self-service ticket kiosks at Toronto's Pearson International Airport, reports The Globe and Mail.
Calgary-based WestJet announced last week it would stop passengers from using credit cards at check-in kiosks at airports across the country.
The decision was made after financial institutions reportedly started investigating isolated fraud incidents stemming from the use of credit cards to obtain boarding passes from kiosks at Pearsons.
Council to automate payments
Hemel Hempstead - Reigate and Banstead Borough Council plans to automate payment transactions of its 127 000 residents, by deploying Telephonetics VIP's speech self-service at its contact centre, reports CBR.
The speech self-service enables callers to check their balance and pay bills on a day and at a time that suits them, providing citizens with a single number to obtain information.
The caller can listen to the information based on what they ask for, for example location, account or reference number.
RedPrairie creates employee self-service application
RedPrairie, a specialist in optimising warehouse and product distribution operations, has created a new employee self-service application to allow employers to more effectively communicate with their staffs, says Manufacturing Business Technology.
As part of the RedPrairie Workforce Management solution, the capability enables employees to confirm their work schedules, check hours worked, submit time-off requests, and receive other job-related information with a secure, easy-to-use Web portal interface.
Employees also can access work schedules through a WAP-enabled device, such as a mobile phone or PDA.
