Minolta bags DBSA outsourcing contract

Bidvest Group Company, Minolta South Africa, has concluded a significant print management outsourcing deal with Development Bank of South Africa (DBSA). The deal resembles other outsourcing deals concluded by Minolta SA where clients have realised savings of up to 36%.

Minolta Pretoria branch manager Jaco Jordaan says DBSA has been a Minolta SA client since the early 1980s but last year the public funding institution made a decision to issue a tender for the outsourcing of its printing and copying support services. "Minolta won the tender and was awarded a three-year contract to ensure DBSA`s print on-demand requirements are met," he says.

Jordaan says the outsourcing deal means that DBSA does not own any business technology, but pays on a per copy, per month basis.

"The company`s print and copy output is managed and tracked by Minolta SA via Informeta Document Accounting Solutions powered by Equitrac, a cost recovery system that allows us to electronically track and bill for the time and costs associated with providing print-related services," he says.

On winning the contract, Minolta SA conducted an intensive investigation to establish DBSA`s exact user requirements, followed by interactive work sessions to ascertain how best to integrate the new systems with the existing infrastructure.

Jordaan says the old printers were becoming expensive to maintain and the other equipment needed to be updated and properly supported. "We replaced the outdated equipment with 48 Konica Minolta Di2510 multifunctional devices and 13 Konica Minolta 3100 colour printers at critical points throughout the building.

"Three Konica Minolta Di650 high volume copiers were placed in the repro department to handle all high volume copying and printing, as well as two Konica Minolta CF3102 colour copier/printers to meet the company`s colour requirements," says Jordaan.

Minolta SA has appointed three on-site outsourcing operations personnel to manage DBSA`s output requirements and advise the company on areas where further savings can be made to the overall print solution.
