Minolta-QMS laser printers are now available on the Internet following the signing of a vendor partnership deal with Digital Planet, an e-commerce site that focuses on the IT industry.
The Minolta-QMS shop on Digital Planet features the range of laser printers including specs, pricing, pictures and an avenue to purchase the product.
According to Minolta`s laser printer product manager, Zarius Jordaan, the vendor partner deal with Digital Planet means that Minolta-QMS has access to the 16 000 members that visit the site daily for IT news and product information. "Digital Planet also markets our product on the site with banners and buttons in the high traffic areas as well as advertising on radio and in the print media," he says.
Digital Planet business development manager, Brendan Muldoon, says Digital Planet tracks the click-throughs to see how many people clicked onto the buttons to see the MINOLTA-QMS products.
"The Digital Planet deal gives us an opportunity to assess if the market is ready to purchase office automation equipment online, and early indications show that there is certainly interest from consumers," says Jordaan.
A recent advertising campaign resulted in a 23% increase in traffic to the Minolta-QMS online shop, 8 500 entries into a competition and 39 product-related calls to the call centre.
Digital Planet also gives Minolta-QMS access to thousands of other consumers via their relationships with WOL, Ananzi, Planetmars, Wealth-e and other sites. "These are all massive sites that feature our products and allow their members to purchase them," says Muldoon. "It is product branding to an entire network of people they may not normally have had access to."
