Mitel (NASDAQ:MITL) has been awarded the 'Most Innovative Channel Product Award' at the Comms Business Awards ceremony, held in the UK recently.
Mitel won the award for the introduction of Mitel Virtual Solutions software portfolio. Mitel Virtual Solutions offers the channel an industry-leading proposition, with the ability to run Mitel's real-time applications in a virtual environment leveraging VMware vSphere 4.
Mitel Virtual Solutions enable unified communications applications to run in a virtualised data centre environment, and is designed to help customers achieve capital and operational savings, productivity improvements and resource efficiencies in data centre management, and risk mitigation for business continuity and disaster recovery plans.
Andy Bull, managing director of Mitel SA, said the company is delighted to win this award and to be recognised as a leading innovator in the industry by the channel.
“Virtualisation is another opportunity for customers to save money by consolidating their hardware and reducing their energy bills. Mitel and VMware have cracked the latency problems in real-time applications and are currently the only providers to deliver voice on a VMware vSphere 4 virtualisation platform," said Bull.
Stephanie Watson, General Manager, MZA and Comms Business Awards judge, said the category was a tough one and all the entries held merit.
“However, virtualisation is increasingly a major buzz in the industry and Mitel and VMware's delivery of a fully virtualised voice solution is a significant step in the communication industry. Mitel is certainly a worthy winner of this award," she said.
