Mitros selects CA`s Unicenter TNG to consolidate and manage IT infrastructure

CA`s end-to-end enterprise management solution used to control Mitros`s distributed IT environment

Computer Associates International, Inc. (CA) has announced that Mitros, one of the largest housing corporations in the Netherlands, has chosen CA`s Unicenter TNG to proactively manage its IT environment. CA`s industry-leading enterprise management software will be used to consolidate Mitros`s widely distributed IT infrastructure, which encompasses eight offices.

Mitros, the result of a merger of three housing corporations more than a year ago, relies on its IT infrastructure to offer an extensive line of services to a broad client base. To do so, the housing corporation needs to control its entire computing environment. In an effort to cut prohibitive costs and hone efficiencies, Mitros sought a standardized, comprehensive and efficient management solution.

After an extensive evaluation of competing products including IBM/Tivoli TME, Mitros chose CA`s Unicenter TNG. "We wanted one, easy-to-manage IT infrastructure where both new and existing technologies could be used," said BSc Wim Vroon, information manager at Mitros. "CA`s Unicenter TNG was the only robust and proven end-to-end enterprise management solution that could consolidate our existing three infrastructures, manage remote objects and effectively enable proactive management."

Mitros selected CA business partner P&C Beheertechnologie BV in Amsterdam to implement Unicenter TNG in its environment, which consists of several servers and PCs. The housing corporation`s platforms include Windows NT and Windows 95.

Mitros also has implemented Unicenter TNG`s options, said Remko Oosenbrug, Mitros`s technical infrastructure coordinator and project leader for the Unicenter TNG implementation. The housing corporation is using Advanced Antivirus, Advanced Helpdesk, Advanced Storage, Asset Management, Remote Control, Software Delivery and Single Sign-On options.

Mitros saw positive results immediately, said Oosenbrug. "Our end-user support improved right away by using Advanced Helpdesk in combination with Remote Control, enabling our remote support efforts. Also, our IT employees became considerably more productive," he said. And by using Software Delivery, we`ll be able to implement and deploy front-end modules quickly and consistently."
