Exactmobile will send a team of four mobile gamers to the fifth annual World Games (WCG) in Singapore next month to represent SA in the inaugural mobile competition.

The South African representatives are the winners of two local finals held at Exactmobile`s offices last week, says Exactmobile CEO Davin Mole.

The four winners: Werner De Lange - Goolie, Ethen Reuben - Mid Town Madness, Christo Janse van Vuuren - Bruce Lee and Tammy Brook-Smith - Chopper Rescue, will be the first mobile gamers to receive their national colours from the South African War Games Union (Sawu)," says Mole.

About 5 000 gamers participated in the competition and uploaded their highest scores via GPRS.

"Mobile gaming has received full accreditation from Sawu which means tournaments will now be organised," says Sawu president, Colin Webster.

"Exactmobile has come on board and shown their total commitment by sending gamers to the WCG. This enables people from all walks of life to compete at the highest level.

"The local mobile WCG has taken on the nature of a national championship because there were participants from every province.

"Sawu will now be looking at the structure of tournaments for mobile gaming so that more value can be added to the people who play in those tournaments. The union will organise provincial and national championships for 2006," he says.

The mobile appeal

Mobile gaming is entertaining, but does not require as much time as PC gaming, says Ethen Reuben. "I probably spent about 24 hours in total in clocking Mid Town Madness. I opened up every car and every level. But it`s not something I had to devote months to."

Exactmobile is the exclusive organiser and host of the local leg of the WCG Mobile Competition as appointed by Indiagames, the WCG brand licence holder. Of the 15 countries entering the mobile competition, Exactmobile is the only organiser that is not a cellular operator.

The 2004 World Cyber Games had over one million participants from over 65 countries, says Mole. This year, 800 gamers from over 70 countries are expected to participate at the final in Singapore.
