Mobile Internet even faster with Fujitsu Siemens Computers LIFEBOOKs

IT manufacturer presents integrated UTMS based on HSUPA standard at 3GSM
Barcelona, 13 Feb 2007

At the 3GSM Trade Fair in Barcelona from 12 to 15 February, the leading European IT manufacturer Fujitsu Siemens Computers will unveil the first notebook to support the new UTMS standard HSUPA (High Speed Upload Package Access).

The HSUPA-based LIFEBOOK will be on display throughout the trade fair at the Sierra Wireless stand (The Avenue, Stand AV99).

Fujitsu Siemens Computers is the first manufacturer capable of presenting a live demonstration of the new HSUPA standard.

While the UMTS standard HSDPA (High Speed Download Package Access) speeds up downloading from the Internet to 7.2Mbps, the upload speed - ie the speed at which commands and data are sent - is slower (384Kbps). HSUPA, on the other hand, enables an upload speed of 1.4Mbps.

Dieter Herzog, Executive Vice-President of Infrastructure Products at Fujitsu Siemens Computers, comments: "Showcasing our LIFEBOOK at 3GSM allows us once again to demonstrate our leading technological position with mobile professional products. We were among the first suppliers to offer notebooks with integrated UMTS, and are now delighted to be able to offer our customers a further large step forward on the path to greater efficiency and user-friendliness. The use of UMTS modules that support both HSDPA and HSUPA with maximum speeds offers users future-proof security for the coming years."

The first Fujitsu Siemens Computers notebooks with integrated UMTS based on the HSUPA standard will be available in winter.

The LIFEBOOK with integrated HSDPA UMTS and ConfCamera, displayed by Fujitsu Siemens Computers at 3GSM, will officially launch at the beginning of March 2007.
