Mobile networking aids enforcement
Law enforcement officials stand to gain a more reliable and secure communications company through a new mobile networking solution designed by a Vancouver-based company, states TMCnet.
With its "onboard Mobile Gateway LE" installed in their vehicles, officials from In Motion Technology say, police will be able to do their jobs better and at a bare minimum of expense to the taxpayer.
"We are pleased to offer a mobile networking solution engineered for the demands of law enforcement agencies," said Kirk Moir, CEO of In Motion Technology. "We believe the Gateway LE will usher in a new era of police communications and provide law enforcement agencies with reliable communications that will reduce risk and costs and enable faster response times."
Systec releases open source POWERLINK
Systec Electronic, a systems house for distributed automation solutions and a member of the Ethernet POWERLINK Standardisation Group, has released open source POWERLINK software for Linux, reports Industrial IT.
The software contains the protocol stack for the managing node and for the controlled nodes, allowing Linux computers with standard on-board Ethernet controllers to reach cycle times up to 0.5ms while ensuring high synchronicity.
According to the software distributors, the package will allow both users and manufacturers to analyse the Ethernet-based real-time protocol and to adapt it to their own applications without licence obstacles.
ZTE leads ON sales
ZTE has led the industry in optical networking (ON) sales last year, with its sales swelling by 120% in 4Q 2007 as against 2006, revealed a report commissioned by international research firm Ovum, states TelecomTiger.
According to the report "Market Share 4Q07 and 2007 Global ON", ZTE stands second in areas of global market share for LH Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing and ADM (add-drop multiplexing).
"It is a significant accomplishment for us that our ON products have successfully penetrated more than 90 countries worldwide, including APAC, Europe, North America, Africa and Middle East," said Han Ling, ZTE's vice-president and general manager, optical network products.
