Mobile operators eye additional revenue
Declining user revenue, falling minutes, saturated telecom markets, and high churn rates have generated the urgent need for a growth engine of the future in the form of mobile value-added services, says Business Wire.
Research and Markets claims 3G technology will enable mobile service providers to offer data-related value-added services in the form of mobile TV, cellphone banking and entertainment. These converged services are expected, in the long-term, to generate additional revenues for mobile operators.
According to TMCnet, the convergence of content and entertainment as well as the demand for 'anytime, anywhere' access to e-mail and social networking are major drivers for the growth of next-generation mobile networks.
Research and Markets says in its report that telecom operators, battling stiff competition and having already invested billions of dollars in building market share, are left with no option but to look for newer ways to recover their investment and retain market share profitably.
