MTN and Nashua Mobile are pushing rewards for prepaid customers.

MTN Call Per Second customers, who recharge with any airtime voucher below R15, will receive 5% of the airtime value for on-net (voice, SMS, data) usage over the weekend. Airtime recharges of between R15 and R60 will receive free airtime to the value of 10%.

Users who recharge for more than R60 will receive 15% value of the airtime purchased.

Meanwhile, Nashua Mobile is targeting the student market with its rewards programme and will host campus activation drives across the country throughout August.

Those who register a new Nashua Mobile SIM on the NM Go portal (www.nmgo.co.za) will stand a chance to win one of five smartphones a week, until the end of August.

Nashua Mobile also has a number of special offers and discounts for NM Go members, and a grand prize of a “trip of a lifetime” to any destination, to the value of R60 000.

To be eligible for the grand prize, customers must get a NM GO prepaid SIM and buy airtime to the value of at least R200 before the end of August.

Other prepaid rewards being offered by service providers include those from Cell C and Virgin Mobile.

Cell C's Recharge Rewards give customers who make R50 worth of recharges in a week an extra 500MB data, 50 bonus SMSes and 50 Cell C to Cell C minutes.

The extra rewards expire after a calendar week and are capped at 1 000MB of data and 100 free minutes. As such, customers are advised to use up their rewards before Sunday midnight, irrespective of when the extra value was loaded.

Virgin Mobile also recently introduced a new benefit for prepaid customers, offering R10 free airtime for every R30 used. The airtime is automatically loaded onto the customer's phone and can be used for SMS, data or voice calls to any network.
