`Modularised` power supply from Corex

Johannesburg, 26 Apr 2005

Computer components distribution company Corex has released a new "modularised" power supply system from its principal Thermaltake.

The PurePower series features a modularised cable management design said to eliminate clutter and improve airflow inside the PC casing.

"The design is typical of anything produced by Thermaltake, in that heat management and airflow optimisation are key factors in its construction," says Corex general manager, Matthew Hall.

"The PurePower unit features active power factor correction [PFC] functionality designed to increase energy efficiency, reduce current load on AC delivery systems and improve output voltage stability," he says.

"A key feature is its embedded socket and modularised cable management system, together with a new 24-pin main connector design."

"In addition the unit offers protection against over-voltage, short-circuit and over-load occurrences, while a high temperature safeguard is also in place," says Hall.

Other features of the compact (120x120x25mm) unit include a built-in aluminium heat sink, low noise fan and a "total Watts meter module" display that graphically illustrates system power consumption.

It comes standard with Dual PCI-Express connectors, four SATA connectors and nine 4-pin power connectors.
