More businesses embrace cloud

SunGard Availability Services revealed that there was a remarkable increase in adoption of cloud computing services in 2010, says Info Tech.

This awareness is expected to lead to the next phase of the cloud evolution, which will bring more maturation and convergence. Organisations say cloud computing can meet the demand for improved IT efficiency by providing a virtualised, secure infrastructure solution.

This solution is scalable, reliable and can provide organisations with greater availability that are cost effectively when compared to a dedicated IT environment.

Sios chooses Datrix as

Sios Technology, a provider of business continuity and disaster recovery solutions for multi-vendor IT infrastructures, revealed Datrix as its first channel partner to offer SIOS' recently introduced subscription-based pricing for the SteelEye line, states Benzinga.

SIOS offers three different subscription options for licensing Sios' SteelEye business continuity solutions: A no-commitment, pay-as-you-go subscription, a one-year subscription and a three-year lease option, which at the end of the term converts to a full ownership license.

These new licensing options allow services and service providers to extend their offerings with business continuity while keeping expenses and revenues aligned, creating a winning combination for both end users and service providers.

TwinStrata integrates cloud platform

TwinStrata, a provider of protection and iScsi cloud storage offering, has integrated Scality's RING storage platform into its family of CloudArray virtual and physical appliances, says CBR.

CloudArray users can now choose and deploy either a private cloud environment or connect with internationally available public cloud providers powered by Scality Ring and receive off-site data protection and disaster recovery capabilities on a 'plug-and-play' basis by adding Scality integration, TwinStrata says.

TwinStrata's CloudArray's 'like local' performance, control, and -driven automation enables Scality users to leverage the on-demand elasticity and adaptability of Scality's Ring cloud storage through innovative asynchronous replication, in-cloud snapshots, dynamic caching, in-flight and at-rest encryption, compression, iScsi, and continuous access to and control of data in the cloud.
