More support for mainframes

BMC `s latest version of its Impact Manager includes enhanced support for mainframes through the integration of Mainview mainframe management solutions and SmartDBA management solutions.

BMC Service Impact Manager is a real-time service impact management solution that delivers information about the state of services, showing the impact of IT problems and the effectiveness of IT services.

"Any solution that claims to manage business services from an IT point of view has a tremendous gap if it ignores the mainframe platform," says Bill Miller, BMC VP and mainframe solutions GM.

Miller says a key advantage of BMC`s business service management strategy is that it spans both distributed and mainframe resources, enabling it to work across the enterprise.

"We are able to differentiate ourselves by using our mainframe heritage to provide a complete solution for aligning IT with business objectives," says Miller. "The ability to measure and report on mainframe activity can be a powerful tool for meeting aggressive service levels."
