Minister of public service and administration Geraldine Fraser-Moleketi and Microsoft SA today handed over 12 new PCs to Uitenhage High School in the Eastern Cape.
The school now has 25 computers running on Intel Pentium 4 processors after Microsoft previously provided software for 13 of the school`s computers. Microsoft also financed the networking of the computer centre and upgraded nine of the school`s existing computers by installing CD-ROMs.
Microsoft SA public sector director Moss Gondwe says over 1 500 computers have been equipped with software as part of the agreement signed between government and Microsoft last year.
"In partnering with government through projects such as the schools software initiative, we are able to assist in providing communities with technology training and tools that will help people realise their potential," says Gondwe.
Microsoft will also facilitate the computer literacy training of three educators from the high school.
