MS moves into

Microsoft has acquired the Bumrungrad `s information system developer Global Care Solutions, states Bangkok Post.

This highlights a big push by the software giant into the healthcare sector, which the company`s chief strategist characterised as "a big business that needs to basically change".

Microsoft hopes to bring patients` electronic records that reside in hospitals and clinics, together with the personal health records that it is encouraging individuals to create with an initiative to build an ecosystem of connected medical recording devices.

Guardian, Delft partner

Guardian Technologies International, developer of medical imaging and threat detection technology, has partnered with Delft Diagnostic Imaging, reports Trading Markets.

The agreement is consistent with the company`s strategic plan to partner with leading manufacturers of medical imaging systems to integrate its next-generation disease detection and quantification technology as a means of accelerating worldwide market acceptance and shorten overall time to market.

The agreement establishes a strategic development programme providing for Guardian`s Signature Mapping computer-aided-detection with visualisation software to be fully integrated into the Delft Odelca-DR digital chest x-ray system.

Internet a 'powerful` tool

Report Buyer has released a report showing that the Internet is potentially a powerful tool for pharmaceutical companies to inform patients and prescribers of their products, according to Newswire.

Few companies achieved the expected return on their initial investments, but there are still compelling reasons for companies to move forward with an eStrategy, provided the pharmaceutical industry rethinks its approach.

At the core of every unsuccessful online campaign is a failure to meet the needs of the end-user. The central goal has to be to make it easier for individuals to either gather information or make a decision.
