MS unveils 'hybrid organisation' plan
A Microsoft report reveals firms that are resistant to changing technology and work settings will suffer at the hands of new, more agile firms, writes Computing.co.uk.
The report, called 'Creating the hybrid organisation: Making public and private sector organisations relevant in the new economy', looks at how employees should operate within their physical workplaces and with IT to make themselves as agile as possible.
It also recognises that the distinction between work and home life has blurred, but that this has empowered staff. There are also opportunities presented by a mix of generations.
Infoblox acquisition boosts IT management offering
Infoblox, a rising hardware appliance manufacturer of Domain Name System servers, has acquired Netcordia, a provider of network change and configuration management software, states eWeek.
Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Integration of the companies begins immediately.
The deal brings together companies with products responsible for increasingly important data centre management functions: NCCM (network change and configuration management) and DDI - an acronym for the combination of DNS (domain name system), DHCP (dynamic host configuration protocol) and IPAM (Internet protocol address management).
Flexera adds to asset management portfolio
Software asset management vendor Flexera Software will add desktop software management to its portfolio through the acquisition of ManageSoft, says Network World
ManageSoft Enterprise Compliance Manager products will become additions to Flexera's FlexNet Manager Suite for Enterprises, enabling management of desktop and data centre applications from such vendors as Microsoft and Adobe, Flexera said. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
The desktop-to-data-centre combination enables automated discovery and inventory of applications across an enterprise as well as application identification from a library of more than 400 000 software titles.
