MTC launches Apple iPad

Windhoek, 15 Sep 2010

Apple iPad Tablet PC has arrived in Namibia to rock the gadget world; courtesy of MTC. The Apple iPad is available in MTC's Mobile Homes stores from Thursday 16 September 2010.

Ending rampant speculation, MTC finally launched the much awaited touch screen tablet, the 'iPad', for consumers who want to take their movies, TV shows, music, games and reading with them, on the go.

Speculation about the capabilities of the iPad have made this device one of the most hyped and talked about gadgets of 2010, and regarded as worthy of having. The iPad is Apple's first tablet designed to fill the gap between cellphones and notebooks and is as functional and feature filled as the notebook. I am not sure about more features than a notebook. The iPad is powerful, but it is still in design a tablet type PC.

The Apple iPad is deemed to be very user-friendly, able to run virtually all of the 140 000 applications, from games to productivity applications, featuring 12 next-generations, innovative multi-touch applications that work in both portrait and landscape modes. It can be used to watch films, compile and store photos and browse the World Wide Web, more like an iPhone on steroids.

The iPad's screen features the same look and feel of the iPod Touch and iPhone, with icons lined up in a grid on the home screen. Applications like Safari, Mail and iPod are located at the bottom edge of the screen. An eBook reader application connects to Apple's very own iBook store where users can browse and buy books by download directly to the device. The iPad also has a 10-hour battery life.

MTC's Chief Human Capital and Corporate Communications Officer, Tim Ekandjo, says: "we are extremely excited to announce that we will be the first and only mobile operator in Namibia to have gone to such great lengths to stay ahead of modern trends solely to provide superior products and services to our customers."
