MTC Namibia reduces data rates by a whopping 75%

MTC Namibia has reduced bundle data rates for GPRS/Edge and 3G/HSDPA by up to 75%.

MTC customers now pay as little as N$1.00 per megabyte effectively, as from 5 November 2007.

In summary:
* Prepaid (Tango) customer rates drop to N$1.00 per megabyte - an effective 75% reduction from the previous N$4.00.
* Postpaid customer rates drop to N$1.00 per megabyte, a reduction of 50% from the previous N$2.00.

MTC Namibia`s Managing Director Miguel Geraldes concludes: "This price reduction demonstrates MTC`s commitment to its customers by offering improved data access at affordable rates. Watch this space as we improve our offerings to the Namibian consumer to be part of the information superhighway."

MTC Namibia

MTC Namibia (Mobile Telecommunications Limited) is the first and leading mobile operator in Namibia; it was established in 1995 as a joint venture between Namibia Post and Telecommunications Holdings (NPTH), Telia and Swedfund. During May 2004, NPTH concluded a deal that saw it hold 100% of the shares in MTC by acquiring the 49% held by Telia Overseas AB and Swedfund International AB. NPTH is 100% owned by the government of the Republic of Namibia. During 2006, the sale of 34% of MTC shares to a strategic/technical partner was concluded with Portugal Telecom, which also holds the management contract.
