Sehoole will take up the position at the start of November. He will succeed Tim Lowry, whose contract ended in June. Sehoole joins the MTN Group from PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he was joint deputy chief executive.
The company has also revealed its group chief marketing officer, Santie Botha, will exit to “pursue new endeavours”. Botha will leave MTN after seven years of service.
Meanwhile, the industry is anxious to know who will take over the top job at the operator, following Nhleko's resignation in March.
When questioned as to when MTN would announce a new CEO, group spokesperson Pearl Majola referred to statements made by Nhleko at the company's interim results, in August.
At the time, Nhleko announced a two-month timeframe for the appointment of a new CEO, but immediately retracted the statement. No further clarification has been offered.
Nhleko previously told ITWeb his last day would be 31 March 2011, and that he had not decided what he would do after moving on.
