MTN has revealed details about its loyalty programme, which could see subscribers getting tickets to the much-anticipated 2010 Fifa World Cup.
The loyalty programme follows hot on the heels of the opening of Fifa`s ticket registration process and MTN`s own marketing campaign around its World Cup sponsorship.
Fifa had applications from over 300 000 fans from across the globe in the first 48 hours of ticket registration.
"MTN is proud to be part of the 2010 Fifa World Cup and the new 1-4-1 loyalty programme allows us to share this with our customers. Lucky MTN customers, who have registered on the programme, will go into the draw for free tickets, which will take place once a month until May 2010," explains MTN chief marketing officer Pieter Verkade.
Ticket prices range from R450 for the opening matches, through to R6 300 for the final. "This programme will give them the chance of getting tickets to attend games and be part of this once in a lifetime event, taking place right here on the African continent."
The company says there are other prizes available as part of the loyalty programme, including airtime, SMS bundles and data bundles. Registration is free and MTN customers will automatically receive a monthly entry into the ticket draw, says Verkade.
All monthly non-winning entries will be carried over each month until May 2010 when the last draw takes place, says the company. "Customers will also have the opportunity to buy more entries into the monthly draw with points earned, and these will also be carried over until May 2010."
To register for the 1-4-1 programme, MTN says customers can dial *141*9# from their handsets or through the MTN WAP site, accessible from their handsets.
Customers earn one point for every R1 spent on their MTN subscription - Pay As You Go, TopUp or contract. The company says they also earn one point for every day they are active on the MTN network (up to 31 points a month). "As a limited bonus offer applicable to registrations up to 31 August 2009, customers will get 60 days of backdated usages and tenure upon registration."
