
SA's second cellphone operator, MTN, yesterday announced the Yello Surprises Campaign, which rewards every 500th prepaid customer with double their airtime recharge value.
The campaign, which will run until 31 March, puts customers who recharge their cellphones in line to win instant airtime daily, as well as R100 000 cash on a weekly basis.
MTN says the campaign is a bid to help customers cut costs during a month notorious for increased financial difficulties. “[In January] many demands are placed on the pocket and finances are not in a great a shape, but MTN is giving customers a reason to still spend money on MTN airtime.”
MTN SA chief marketing officer Serame Taukobong says communication is a basic necessity, even in times that require economic prudence, and the operator is trying to give customers an incentive for recharging.
