MTN SA has revamped its roaming offering with the introduction of fixed and affordable rates for its customers. With the South Africa 2010 FIFA World Cup looming and now being counted down in days, Africa is a core focus of the new MTN Roaming offering.
However, MTN SA customers travelling internationally over six continents will benefit from MTN Roaming.
Research shows that almost half of MTN South Africa's customers who travel outside South Africa are visiting other countries on the African continent. Hence, the new roaming product, recently launched by the leading mobile operator in Africa and the Middle East, allows MTN 'roamers' to stay in touch - everywhere they go - at one simple rate.
MTN SA customers travelling to and between African countries can roam on the MTN networks for only R5 for all local calls within the country, for any call back to South Africa or for an international call. Receiving calls from anywhere or anyone will also be charged at R5. Sending an SMS message will cost just R1.50 while roaming in Africa, or R2.50, while roaming elsewhere. Incoming SMSes are free. These charges remain fixed until 31 July 2010 after the final whistle has blown at the 2010 FIFA World Cup final.
With MTN Roaming from MTN, it's never been easier - or cheaper - to keep connected to family, friends and colleagues while travelling throughout Africa or internationally. MTN SA has launched this preferential roaming service in order to ensure simplicity and transparency to all MTN customers who are on the move.
MTN Roaming is structured so that MTN customers are aware of the call charges for voice calls in the international regions they travel to, before they start making use of the MTN Roaming service.
Customers should take note that the standard roaming rate does not apply to data services and MTN advises customers to make themselves aware of these costs if they plan to make use of data services while travelling.
MTN Roaming service is applicable to MTN SA's contract - and Pay as you Go where applicable - customers and simplifies the charging principles and rates for roaming services offered by MTN. There are no connection fees for any calls and all rates are charged per minute.
Apart from Africa, new fixed MTN Roaming rates have also been structured for Asia, Australia, Europe, North America and South America.
