The company that brought SA its first - and, to date, most successful - pay-television platform is undergoing significant transition, both in terms of its management structure and unit integration.

MultiChoice announced this morning that its South African CEO, Collins Khumalo, has resigned. He has decided to "take time out", after being with the group for 17 years, says the company.

MultiChoice SA, as a group, will now report directly to group CEO Imtiaz Patel.

Meanwhile, due to overlap tendencies between MultiChoice's DStv Mobile and DStv Online businesses, the two will be integrated into one entity with immediate effect, with the combined business unit being headed up by John Kotsaftis, CEO of DStv Online.

Mark Rayner, head of DStv Mobile, has been appointed to the position of chief operating officer of MultiChoice SA.

In addition to this, says MultiChoice, stakeholder management of the company has become such that it requires full-time attention. "It needs a more integrated approach to stakeholder management, and strategic regulatory input has become critical."

The company says consequently Calvo Mawela has been named group head of stakeholder and regulatory affairs.

MultiChoice bid farewell to Khumalo, noting he has played various roles within the pay-TV environment and has been a stalwart in assisting the company to build the business across Africa.
