Music from your pocket

Clicker Pocki Drive performs more tasks than purely musical ones: you can even use it as a powerful tool for learning languages
Johannesburg, 03 Sep 2003

The diminutive Clicker Pocki Drive and MP3 Player, now available from Frontier Electronics, is a dream come true. This portable music player is small and light. It fits in your hand - or in the pocket of your tightest pair of jeans. It is also reasonably priced.

All you have to do once you acquire the Clicker Pocki Drive and MP3 Player is install the software and connect the player to your music by plugging the USB cable into the player and the computer. Browse through the MP3 files on your computer, select some and move them to the player.

The little device is now full of songs. You operate it by pressing the buttons. Put the earphones on, and enjoy the listening experience. The music sounds great, which may come as a surprise, having in mind the size of the device. Clicker Pocki Drive and MP3 Player has 128MB of built-in memory, which can hold 25 songs in MP3 files, give or take one or two.

You`ll get even more from your diminutive player if you convert the MP3 files to WMA. Clicker can store about 70 songs in WMA format (the exact number depends on how big the files are). The music still sounds good!

However, there is a catch... The Clicker can not play back WMA files as a standalone unit. The files of that format will be played back on Clicker only while the device is connected to the computer.

The MP3 files can be played back anywhere, anytime, without a PC. With an optional 128MB memory card added, the MP3 storage capacity translates into enough songs for a car trip of moderate duration. The extra memory slot is on the back of the player, and all you have to do is slip in your SD card - yes, the very same one you might use for your digital camera (SD memory card is also available from Frontier Electronics).

Take along a spare battery though. The player uses one AAA battery that runs for about six hours.

Remember that Clicker Pocki Drive performs more tasks than purely musical ones. Picture this situation: you are jogging with your Clicker in your pocket and the earphones on your head. Suddenly, you are struck by a brilliant idea. Not a hint of a pen or paper in sight. And we know how elusive brilliant ideas are: if not caught immediately, all they leave behind is the tantalising memory. But that does not worry you any more. You get the Clicker out of your pocket, press mode button twice, press play button and voila - the Clicker becomes a voice recorder! To finish recording, press stop. To remind yourself that you promised your spouse to get a loaf of bread on your way back home, just press the play button.

Want still more? All right, here you are: the little Clicker has a "repeat one" and "repeat all" function. This function allows you to listen to your favourite music - one file, or all of them - to the infinity and beyond (that is, as far as the battery takes you). The repeat function can also be a powerful tool for learning languages.

Of course, you can always use Clicker Pocki Drive and MP3 Player for the purpose that USB Pocki Drives were originally designed for: backing up files and copying them from one computer and transferring them to another.
