Minolta-QMS has expanded its distribution network, following a deal with Mustek to extend the distribution of Minolta-QMS laser printers to its Cape Town and Durban branches.
According to Minolta-QMS national distribution manager, Dean Flavell, Mustek initially distributed the Minolta-QMS range from its Johannesburg office and used Minolta`s authorised service providers (ASPs) for nation-wide installation, support and service when required by its resellers.
"The success of the distribution of Minolta-QMS products in Johannesburg prompted the decision to expand the distribution of our laser printers, consumables and peripherals to its branches in Cape Town and Durban," he says.
Flavell says the deal with Mustek aims to capitalise on the high percentage of printers sold to the South African market through Mustek`s dealer channel, and gives Minolta-QMS another platform from which to increase market share.
"Until now, we have had very little representation in Cape Town and Durban, which was exacerbated by the departure of Siltek from Cape Town. The revised agreement with Mustek provides us with access to a much wider market," says Flavell.
Flavell says research indicates that as much as 90% of printer sales locally are concluded by computer resellers, PC stores, retail outlets and systems integrators. "With partners such as Minolta-QMS on board, Mustek is in a position to offer its clients a total solution," he says.
To ensure that the new distribution channel is professionally managed, Minolta-QMS has appointed sales representatives in Cape Town and Durban to manage the Mustek account.
Mecer`s strategic planning manager, Allan Rosslee, says they choose their partners carefully to maintain the integrity and quality Mustek`s products. "MINOLTA-QMS` products fit the bill as they have a proven reliability record, are very competitively priced and are well supported in SA.
