Namibia`s cellular provider, Mobile Telecommunications Limited (MTC) is seeking expressions of interest from organisations wishing to take up a strategic stake in the company.
MTC, which has been operational for 10 years and has around 360 000 active subscribers, offers coverage of 88% of the southern African nation.
According to a report from Namibia Post and Telecommunications Holdings (NPTH), the sole owner of MTC, the company now wishes to sell a strategic stake of 34% to an organisation qualified to take up such a shareholding.
NPTH has called for interested parties to indicate their interest by no later than 15 July, after which it will select the organisations with which further discussions will then be held.
Key criteria for applicants includes an organisation`s international recognition; its regional interests in terms of shareholdings and ventures; access to financing; track record and experience in the mobile industry; and audited financial results.
