With winter quickly rushing up on us, most are making the dash for the pharmacy for flu remedies, vaccinations and capsules. However, LG Electronics has found a unique way to battle the onset of flu this year.
The LG F2400 will be the first local phone to be fitted with silver nano-particle anti-bacterial coating. "LG Electronics pioneered Nano-technology over five years ago integrating it into their fridges, washing machines and other kitchen appliances, and have now made the logical move into mobile phones," says YJ Khang, Managing Director of LG Electronics South Africa.
"Nano-technology employs a revolutionary mechanism in which the physical and chemical structures and properties of a piece of matter are adjusted in size to within roughly 100 nanometers," says LG Mobile Product Manager Kevin Lee. "When silver is set at the state of nano, it produces very powerful sterilisation and antibacterial properties. This will make sure that a commonly used item, like your phone, never becomes riddled with dust and germs that could be harmful to the user."
"Considering that we use our phones all day long, dialling and texting with our hands and then we bring the handset close to our mouths when we talk, it really raised a health risk that needed to be addressed. With this new technology, I believe we have found a viable solution," continues Lee.
This innovation has led to the F2400 receiving the sought-after IF design award at the recent Cebit exhibition in Hanover, the world`s leading technology and design faire.
Added to the nano-technology found in the phone, the F2400 has all of the other features one would come to expect from a leading handset. Main and sub full colour LCD screens, Bluetooth connectivity, Polyphonic ringtones and exceptionally low size and weight are sure to make this phone a top seller.
More advanced feature also includes video on demand and instant messaging capability. The F2400 will be available locally in May 2005.
