Nanoteq secures multi million rand contract from department of correctional services

Johannesburg, 08 Nov 2000

Nanoteq, local IT solutions provider, has developed a fully integrated communication security solution for the Department of Correctional Services. The multi-million rand project will provide high-level security to the Correctional Services` national , which is part of the Government`s OPENET Network.

Nanoteq has already established itself as the preferred Government IT Security solutions partner and is currently also involved in the Court Processes Procedure (CPP) pilot project.

According to the Director Information Technology MP Mallane, the Auditor General advised the department to upgrade its network security which covers in excess of 300 sites. The information travelling between these sites is of a sensitive nature, and needs to be encrypted. Other departments connected to the OPENET network need not have access to this .

"We have partnered with Nanoteq due to its experience and solutions offering, which will enable us to prevent the misuse and tampering of prisoner records by unauthorised users," he noted.

Nanoteq consultancy services manager Rian Olivier said the VPN-based network security solution is in line with Nanoteq`s new KeySecure"a Blueprint, a methodology in which Nanoteq delivers professional services and integrated security solutions based on best-of-breed technologies.

International brand names and Nanoteq proprietary products, as well as a mix of customised solutions, are being integrated to meet with Correctional Services` specific needs and compliance to the standards required within the Government sector," he explained.
