NASA to broadcast live Mars landing

Curiosity, NASA's most advanced planetary rover, will land on Mars at 01:30 EDT on 6 August, Mashable reports.

People in New York City, will be also be able to watch the landing live in Times Square.

According to Examiner, the coverage from NASA TV will begin its live broadcast on the screen in Times Square beginning at 23:30 EDT on 5 August continue through 04:00 the next day.

The programme will be broadcast from NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory's (JPL) Mission Control in Pasadena, California.

Third Rock Radio will broadcast the audio portion of the coverage.

“In the city that never sleeps, the historic Times Square will be the place for New Yorkers to participate in this historic landing,” The Economic Times quotes NASA's associate administrator for science missions, John Grunsfeld, as saying.

“When you think of all the big news events in history, you think of Times Square, and I can think of no better venue to celebrate this news-making event on Mars.”
