Navision today released Commerce Gateway, a business-to-business solution that opens up Navision Financials to electronic exchange of trading documents. As the first global solution based on Microsoft BizTalk 2000, Commerce Gateway helps mid-sized companies that want to take early advantage of new opportunities for business-to-business collaboration. With immediate effect Navision has released Commerce Gateway to 25 local Navision companies around the world for localization and sale.
Commerce Gateway builds on the strengths of Microsoft BizTalk Server 2000, that uses XML (Extensive arkup Language) as a universal translator to allow virtually any two systems to exchange documents. The exchange of information in Commerce Gateway is handled in a graphical user interface, which makes it very easy to administrate the system.
"Commerce Gateway shows how we solve real challenges for our customers in a straightforward and cost-effective way. Commerce Gateway makes it easy for our mid-market customers to participate in the supply chains of much larger companies," says Niels Bo Theilgaard, executive vice president, Product Organization for Navision a/s. "We have just released Commerce Gateway which already is solving business challenge for our early adopters."
One example is Wegusta D"usseldorf Gesellschaft f"ur Arbeitsschutz und Schweisstechnik GmbH, a Germany supplier of products for the pharmaceutical industry that uses Commerce Gateway to do business with a key customer via a secure online marketplace.
Microsoft BizTalk Server 2000 is the foundation for standards-based business process orchestration within and between organizations. Navision believes both mid-sized companies and their larger trading partners will deploy Microsoft BizTalk Server widely.
"Navision shares Microsoft`s commitment to provide companies with simple, reliable and cost-effective business solutions. Commerce Gateway is the first globally released product that takes advantage of BizTalk Server 2000 to specifically meet the business-to-business integration needs of mid-sized companies," says Bill Dunlap, Group Product Manager, Microsoft Corporation.
