NavisionDamgaard announces User Portal

The first mid-market solution based on Microsoft Digital Dashboard 2.01
Johannesburg, 11 Jan 2001

Navision Damgaard announces User Portal: the first mid-market solution based on Microsoft(r) Dashboard 2.01. User Portal is a Web-based solution that instantly increases productivity by giving users a single point of entry to all the information they need to excel at their jobs.

User Portal, which is part of NavisionDamgaard`s e-business to utilize the Web technologies already existing in its products, makes it possible for customers to access personalized from a Microsoft Web browser.

"User Portal frees our customers to focus on their business," says Niels Bo Theilgaard, Chief Product Officer, Executive Vice President, NavisionDamgaard. "This solution is another example of how we are using technology to make it easy for companies to realize the full potential of the Internet."

User Portal helps employees focus on business by delivering all the critical information they need onto one page, thereby instantly increasing productivity.

"We are excited about NavisionDamgaard`s User Portal and its application of the Digital Dashboard Resource Kit 2.01," said Alex Hankin, Digital Dashboard Product Manager at Microsoft. "The use of Web Parts and personalization features in NavisionDamgaard`s role-based portal takes the digital dashboard concept one step further."

User Portal is entirely role-based, so that companies can equip their employees with the power of knowledge, thereby helping them make better business decisions. User Portal also benefits customers by enabling casual users to easily access the data in their Navision solution that is relevant to their role in the organization. This adds value to customers` current investment in Navision solutions. User Portal requires no training.

"We feel very positive about the opportunities User Portal can provide our organization. The fact that staff don't need to be trained is a great benefit. Eliminating the learning barriers in this way helps us to increase our productivity," says Phil Eyers, IT Manager at Supreme Pet Foods, a Navision Financials customer in the United Kingdom.

User Portal is one of several new e-business solutions that NavisionDamgaard will be releasing over the next few months. These solutions will make it easier for customers in the mid-market to realize the full potential of the Internet. Previously released solutions for e-businesses from NavisionDamgaard, such as Web Shop, Damgaard Axapta`s Web applications, the WAP (Wireless Application Protocol) toolkit, the option for Microsoft SQL Server 2000, and the recently announced Commerce Gateway already use the same foundational technology that Microsoft products utilize.
