NCR picked for Belgian self-
ING Belgium has chosen the NCR SelfServ 34 ATM with cash-recycling module to equip its new-concept Proxi branches, according to Reuters.
The Proxi branch concept is part of ING Belgium's retail bank strategy, unveiled in 2007 and driven by changes in customer expectations and habits, particularly the trend towards electronic channels.
The branch layout includes 'self bank' self-service and customer advice areas. The name refers to the convenience that customers want - banking services when they want them, where they want them and through the channel they choose.
Self-service aids visa enquiries
The Dubai Naturalisation and Residency Department (DNRD) is planning to set up a series of self-service kiosks to facilitate visa enquiries at shopping malls and other public places, reports Gulf News.
The self-service kiosks will allow residents to check the status of their visas and print out their resident/visit visa and visa extensions for just Dh70 (R140).
The machines will also allow UAE nationals to apply for passport renewal services without visiting DNRD offices. Access to the machine can be obtained through insertion of e-Gate or national identity cards.
Airline intros paperless boarding passes
SAS Scandinavian Airlines is now offering its passengers the convenience of mobile boarding passes, states Jaunted.
This means SAS customers can now travel using only their mobile phone and an ID card/passport.
The mobile boarding pass contains a 2D barcode that can be read electronically at the airport. The 2D bar code can be used to get baggage tags from the SAS self-service kiosks, at security screening, duty-free shopping, entering SAS lounges and when boarding.
