NCR plans hybrid rollout
Kiosk-maker NCR will roll out hybrid machines that dispense both pre-recorded DVDs and digital movies to retailers in 2009, states Videobusiness.
NCR has partnered with MOD Systems to deliver kiosks that will allow consumers to download content onto SD memory cards for playback on various compatible devices.
The companies expect to start installing these kiosks at unspecified retailers in the first quarter of 2009. Neither NCR nor MOD has yet detailed what films and TV content will be available for download at launch.

Innova Card, Wavecom partner
Innova Card and Wavecom have developed a new hardware reference design for wireless electronic point-of-sale terminals, says TMCnet.
The new design enables manufacturers to integrate multiple communications technologies without changing the payment and security software.
This would ease the design and certification process and reduce time to market for manufacturers of EPOS terminals, the announcement said.
