Mimosa Systems, provider of next-generation e-mail, file and SharePoint archiving solutions, has released NearPoint 4.0, for archiving, eDiscovery and business user productivity.

The company says NearPoint 4.0 includes new capabilities for speeding up eDiscovery in large enterprises and offers support for multiple capture methods.

NearPoint 4.0 also offers functions that unify information from all content types into a personal productivity and business decision platform powered by an intelligent archive.

“Mimosa NearPoint 4.0 delivers significant new capabilities for eDiscovery and enterprise business productivity, key components of tomorrow's intelligent enterprise archiving platform," says Laura DuBois of IDC.

According to the company, NearPoint 4.0 decreases the time needed to identify, collect and preserve electronically stored information with advanced case management and workflow tools. This ensures unified eDiscovery across e-mail, file system, and SharePoint content.

Mimosa says NearPoint 4.0 allows organisations to organise and share complex search queries, review lists, legal holds and tags across cases or teams, and automate searches across geographies and domains with granular permissions.

The product's information access features include unified access to e-mail and file system content - presented in a familiar Outlook, Outlook Web Access or browser user interface; advanced offline access to archived content; Windows desktop search integration; as well as presenting active and archived content in a single view.

According to Mimosa, NearPoint 4.0 also provides a generalised framework for multiple capture methods from a variety of sources. It includes a messaging application programming interface option combined with Exchange journaling and the ability to add new capture methods in the future.

The product assists in reducing overall storage requirements including compression, delta storage for list changes, compaction of message headers, and enhanced support for de-duplication devices, the company notes.

NearPoint 4.0 is certified for use with VMware and Hyper-V for easy integration into virtual data centre infrastructures, and features a development toolkit, the company concludes.
