NEC Computers International today announces their Versa Note VXi notebook which is available with the latest version of the Intel mobile Pentium III processor with Speed Step technology. NEC Corporation, working in conjonction with NEC Computers International and NEC Computers Inc, will offer 1Ghz Pentium III based notebook computing systems for business and consumer users worlwide.
Its release corresponds with Intel`s launch of the 900MHz and 1 GHz version of their mobile Pentium III processor. The Versa Note VXi offers unrivalled value and performance . Designed for demanding business users, this laptop is available with Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional, the operating system recommended by NEC Computers International for business applications.

Versa Note VXi: Total flexibility for Mainstream Value
The Versa Note VXi meets the needs of corporate mobile deployments. It offers advanced mobile features, and can also be customized to suit the demands of different users. It comes with a choice of Intel processors up to 1 GHz, two screen sizes (12.1" or 14.1" TFT) and a built-in modem and/or LAN controller. It has NOW an ATI video graphics solution with 8MB SGRAM and 2X AGP. It also offers a stable migration path by sharing accessories with the previous generation of Versa Note VX notebooks.
The Versa Note VXi`s all-in-one design gives users instant access to its broad range of features: the three-spindle design incorporates a removable hard drive, floppy drive, 24X CD-ROM, optional DVD or CD-RW drives and Li-Ion battery. It can be ordered with an internal miniPCI 56K modem, miniPCI 10/100 LAN controller or combo miniPCI 56K V90 modem/10/100 LAN controller. It also comes with two Type II PC Card slots for maximum expandability.
The Versa Note VXi features two dedicated hotkeys for one-touch access to email and the Web, and convenient, front-mounted media buttons for control of CD-ROM or DVD-ROM, which can be replaced with PIN code keypad to secure access to the notebook. It also shares common components, such as the active port bar, with previous Versa Note models.
Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional best for NEC Versa notebooks
The new NEC Versa Note VXi is available with Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional, Microsoft`s latest operating system for business users.
Built on Windows NT technology and the easy-to-use Windows 98 user interface, Windows 2000 Professional helps business users be more productive. It is exceptionally reliable and easy to maintain compared to previous operating system. For example, Windows 2000 automatically configures new hardware devices, making set-up easier. It also helps users to master the Internet better with integrated support for Internet-enabled applications.
Versa Note VXi is also available with Windows 98. All models come with a full range of utility software, including Symantec Norton Anti Virus, Travelling Software Laplink, Intel Landesk Client Manager and a Recovery CD. It is PC 2000 ready and ACPI compliant. Keyboards have a Euro keycap.
