NEC releases Lui

NEC will put on sale next week its new Lui PC and home media server, says PCWorld.

The Lui can tune into high-definition TV broadcasts and stream both live and recorded programmes to compatible TVs and computers and allow remote Windows desktop access from portable devices.

Seen late last year for the first time as a prototype, the Lui is akin to a digital video recorder and PC packed together into a single, large case.

IBM saves energy

IBM on Monday launched two products, a Unix server and a water-cooled supercomputer, which have energy-saving capabilities, says The Economic Times.

The new products are energy-efficient and would help reduce bottom line operating costs, IBM said in a release.

The new Unix Enterprise Server is the fastest Unix server in the world and is targeted at existing IBM clients, the release said.

Mark Logic tests server

Mark Logic has submitted its Extensible Markup Language (XML) database server for Common Criteria certification, says GCN.

Version 4.0 of MarkLogic Server Enterprise Edition will be tested at Evaluation Assurance Level 3.

In addition, the certification will be augmented with ALC_FLR.3, an assurance on the part of the vendor that it has a process in place to track and fix flaws found in the software found after the certification is issued.
