Shoden Data Systems has concluded deals with Nedcor, valued at approximately R3.8 million, for the supply and implementation of enterprise data storage systems.
The implementation of the Hitachi Freedom Storage Lightning 9960 solution in Nedcor's mainframe environment is aimed at significantly improving the access rate of data.
This is according to Nedcor's Rajan Pillay, who adds: "In a financial institution such as Nedcor, the value of extensive and guaranteed accessibility to the data cannot be underestimated. Poor performance and system downtime are intolerable in today's business environment."
The Lightning 9960 subsystem aims to provide scaleable connectivity and expandable capacity for both S/390 and open-systems environments.
"This system is ideally suited for use in data centres such as Nedcor's that demand high-performance, non-stop operations," adds Fanie van Rensburg, Shoden Data Systems MD.
