Neotel reduces call tariffs

Johannesburg, 01 Mar 2012

Neotel today announced a drop in voice tariffs, passing on the benefit of reduced interconnection rates and moving to a single standard rate for calls to all mobile operators.

The company says this aligns the cost of a call to any mobile network to the lowest existing mobile voice tariff that Neotel offers, “adding greater transparency to Neotel's voice service for all users and spurring its ability to bring competitive communication solutions to both consumers and businesses”.

The price reduction means Neotel now offers a peak time call charge to all mobile operators of R1.05 per minute and an off-peak rate of 94c per minute. The company also offers per second billing, free voicemail and the ability to port existing landline numbers. Neotel-to-Neotel calls remain free between 6pm and 7am during the week and on weekends, while Neotel-to-Telkom national rates reduce by 10%.

Chief sales and marketing officer at Neotel, Noel Studti, says the company will ensure pricing benefits are transferred to both consumers and businesses as far as possible, “having brought call charges down in response to every announced reduction in the interconnect rate by ICASA since 2010”. He says the move to a single, reduced call charge across all mobile networks supports the national objective of reducing the cost of communications and doing business in SA.

“While we are working on increasing the reach of our network to make our solutions more widely available to all customers, we are already able to offer consumers and small businesses on average 25-30% savings,” concludes Studti.
