NetActive Limited , the largest independent ISP in the country and recently listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, has acquired specialist networking company Divergent Technology for R4 million. The acquisition will lay the foundation for a new business thrust under the name NetActive Networking. The new operation will enhance NetActive`s service offerings to the small to medium enterprises (SME) and corporate Internet markets.
"After intense concentration on organic grow over the last two years, NetActive is now in a perfect position to pursue the acquisition trail more fervently. At NetActive, we continually develop new ways of contributing more than just Internet connectivity to current and potential clients. The acquisition of Divergent technology fits perfectly into this model," says Lawrence Brick, NetActive chief executive officer.
Divergent Technology was established in 1994 and has a strong UNIX and Microsoft client base. The company also has powerful alliances with market leaders, such as Cisco and Microsoft in the networking world. "The three Directors and their team have a very strong skills base will contribute significantly to NetActive," says Brick.
Udesh Inderlal has been working exclusively with SCO UNI and its layered products for the last five years. Considered to be one of the most respected SCO engineers in the country has particular expertise in Multi Processor systems, Internet connectivity and SCO network management. He adds to the SCO team of engineers to extend its services to support national SCO installations.
Dr. Larry Paslovsky specialised in the implementation and maintenance of large UNIX instillations and their integration with underlying Local Area Network technologies. He is a certified SCO UNIX instructor and has an excellent reputation in both the corporate and medium size business markets.
Ian Greenspan has specialised in the implementation of large NT networks and Microsoft Exchange. He has also had extensive experience integrating these networks with PABX, call management and voicemail systems.
In 1997 NetActive and Divergent Technology established a close working relationship as a result of the numerous synergies that exist between the two companies. The success of this relationship has ultimately lead to the Divergent Technology being acquired by NetActive.
