Nortel to sell unit
Nortel Networks will sell its advanced wireless technology business to Nokia Siemens Networks for $650 million and said it was making progress in talks to sell its other businesses, reports CIOL.
Nortel, once the largest North American maker of telecommunications gear, collapsed into bankruptcy in January, blaming the economic crisis for derailing a turnaround effort that began in 2005.
Nokia Siemens, a joint venture of Nokia and Siemens, had made an unsolicited offer for parts of Nortel's carrier network group, but the price and scope of a deal had been unclear.

Ericsson has been selected to provide Telefonica O2 Germany with an IMS core system with an IMS-based VOIP application server, says MarketWatch.
These two contracts include hardware deployment and software systems integration services.
This represents a major step forward for O2 in Germany, as it migrates its existing fixed and mobile systems into a converged IP-based next-generation network.
