NetMotion expands into Europe
NetMotion Wireless, a provider of mobile productivity and management software, has expanded into Europe with new subsidiaries in Germany and France, according to PRnewswire.
In addition, the company has appointed Mikael Taillepied and Ufuk Erg"un to head new regional offices for the company.
The company has been active in the UK for several years, and Stef Coetzee will continue to head UK and Northern European operations.
Ericsson cuts more jobs
Ericsson, the world's largest maker of wireless phone networks, plans to deepen cost reductions and eliminate about 5 000 more jobs, Bloomberg reports.
This is in anticipation of spending cuts by telecommunications companies this year.
The measures, including moving some operations to low-cost countries and eliminating temporary workers and consultants, will cost 6 billion kronor ($717 million) to 7 billion kronor, and lead to annual savings of 10 billion kronor by the second half of 2010, the company said in a statement.
Bharti Airtel looks to BlackBerry
Sri Lanka's latest entrant to the highly competitive celco sector, Bharti Airtel, said it will provide smartphone options to subscribers, through the BlackBerry Bold smartphone, to give higher performance for heavy users, reports lanka business online.
“The BlackBerry solution will undoubtedly deliver breakthrough mobile applications and services hosting a variety of communication channels in one smartphone, to provide ease of use, access of information and greater connectivity to customers in Sri Lanka," says Amali Nanayakkara, chief executive of Bharti Airtel Lanka.
The BlackBerry Bold smartphone is the first of a series of smartphones that support tri-band High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) networks that let users stay connected to people and information.
