Network Engines expands Intelligent Application Gateway 2007 product line with single-height rackmount appliance

Johannesburg, 30 Mar 2007

SecureData, a member of the JSE-listed ERP.com Group, the sole distributor of Network Engines in Sub-Saharan Africa, today announced the latter's expansion of the IAG product line which Microsoft acquired from Whale Communications.

The new NS-IAG is a 1U rackmount appliance built with the latest dual-core server technology to provide high-performance application-aware SSL VPN, Web application firewall, and endpoint security management for organisations requiring strong security at an affordable price.

"We selected Network Engines as the exclusive provider of support to existing IAG customers and as a partner to develop new platform choices for future IAG customers," commented Mike Schutz, Group Product Manager - Security and Access, Microsoft Corp.

"We are impressed with the commitment Network Engines has made to the IAG product line and the company's ability to quickly introduce this new high performance platform for IAG."

"We were eager to expand the IAG product line by developing a high-performance platform at a lower cost," added Greg Shortell, President and CEO of Network Engines. "This enables a wider range of customers to take advantage of IAG's impressive capabilities. Our customers will also benefit from the significant expansion of our technical support, professional services, and customer training teams with outstanding employees from Microsoft."

IAG is available exclusively as a combined hardware/software/support solution. Network Engines now offers and supports two appliance implementations of IAG:

* NS-IAG - a 1U rackmount system which integrates IAG's application optimisers with the capabilities of Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2006 to allow only known-good traffic to pass to each application.
* NS-4700 - a 2U rackmount system featuring e-Gap technology to interpose a physical separation between the public network and the customer's internal network. Working in combination with IAG's application optimisers and ISA Server 2006, the NS-4700 platform provides a high level of security that many financial institutions and government agencies require.
* Both Network Engines appliance implementations of IAG are available in high-availability packages which include two complete server systems. Load-balancing distributes the workload during normal operation, enabling a single appliance to continue servicing users and applications when one is offline. Up to 64 IAG appliances can be configured in a single array.
