All these new printers are network-ready with built-in Ethernet.
The biggest barrier that users perceive in moving to general colour printing in the office has been the higher purchase cost and perception of insufficient performance. With these new printers Tektronix has knocked over the final barriers to general adoption of colour in the office.
Furthermore, it is anticipated that the European colour page printer market is set to grow at 57% between 1998 and 2002 according to industry analysts IDC, compared to a monochrome laser market that is expected to shrink both in units and revenues.
Tektronix is the European market leader for this class of colour printers with a marketshare in 1997 of 31% (source IDC) and believes that these new price points will accelerate demand for its printers as users migrate from their old black and white lasers and low-performance personal ink-jets.
