Network security in one integrated package

Biodata IT SA, local distributor of Astaro Germany, announces the launch of the award-winning Astaro Security Linux software on fully integrated appliances.

Astaro introduces four models - the Astaro Security Gateway 110, 120, 220 and 320. Model 110 and 120 are desktop or cable-box type units designed for small businesses and branch offices, while model 220 and 320 are 1U rack-mount sized units designed for medium and large enterprises.

All four appliances offer Astaro`s comprehensive, fully integrated perimeter software applications. The Astaro Security Linux firewall, VPN gateway, and intrusion protection come with all models. Upgrades include virus protection, spam blocking and URL filtering. All models feature Astaro`s intuitive user interface that greatly reduces the cost of deployment and management.

"Many potential customers will only look at security appliances," says Chris Runte, a director of Biodata IT. "With their Security Gateway appliances, Astaro opens large and fast growing market segments for themselves and their partners."

The Astaro Security Gateway appliances are easily configured and managed through their intuitive WebAdmin graphical interface. A single administrator can manage all six Astaro security applications over the Web via an encrypted link. Changes to users, groups, security policies, configurations and system parameters can be made quickly and easily with intuitive point-and-click screens. There is only one interface to learn, and one system to maintain. The appliances sit between the corporate network and the outside world and provide protection for all types of networks and all types of computer systems, including Windows, Linux and Unix-based PCs and servers.

Appliances simplify the purchase decision, because all hardware and software come in a single unit and arrive with software already installed. Customers perceive them a "plug-and-play" since they take less time and expertise to deploy. Another advantage is the fact that hardware and software support is provided by the same vendor.
