New Acer has social networking keys
Pressing the social-networking hot key on the new Gateway NV and ID series laptops activates an integrated widget through which customers can update their status, post messages or upload multimedia, or see updates from the feeds of friends.
The button's addition underscores the growing importance of social networking as an element in people's digital lives.
According to Twice, the 4.6-pound Gateway ID47H02u, $699 features a 2.3GHz Intel Core i5-2410M processor with Turbo Boost, a 14-inch HD LED backlit display, Intel HM55 Express chipset, 4GB of DDR3 memory, 500GB hard drive, WiFi, 8x DVD Super Multi double-layer drive, 1.3 megapixel camera, and one USB 3.0 and two USB 2.0 ports.
The $629 NV model is the NV5505u. It is geared toward general entertainment usage. It is powered by an AMD quad-core A8-3500M processor rated at 1.5GHZ. The processor includes AMD's TurboCore technology that can boost its speed to 2.4GHz.
PC Mag reports that The ID47 is one of only a handful of Gateway laptops covered in aluminium.
In this release, Gateway will offer two designs, or what it is calling "Infinity Blue Liquid" and "Brushed Platinum".
