Acer`s new TravelMate 6000 notebook series, based on Intel Mobile Centrino technology, is designed to satisfy professionals, freelancers and SME employees looking for a compact, lightweight alternative to desktop PCs.

The Acer TravelMate 6000 series uses Intel Pentium M processors up to 1.6GHz with Intel 855GME chipset; built-in wireless 802.11g connection, and the battery has an exceptional five-hour autonomy.
Its 512MB DDR33 memory is scalable to 2.0GB and the hard disk drive is protected by Acer DASP technology (Disk Anti-Shock Protection). The TravelMate 6000 ships with 40 or 60GB HDD as well as a DVD/CD-RW combo drive or DVD-DUAL that uses the practical AcerMediaBay, giving the notebook the same performance capacities as a modern desktop..
Acer TravelMate 6000 notebooks have 15-inch TFT SXGA+ (1400x1050) screens with 16.7 million colours and Intel 855GME integrated 3D AGP graphics featuring Intel Extreme Graphics 2 technology and up to 64MB of video memory.
The notebooks support DualView, allowing contemporaneous management of LCD display and external CRT monitor, simultaneous view and MPEG-2/DVD hardware support. The SoundBlaster-Pro and MS-Sound compatible audio stereo section integrates speakers and microphone.
The IEEE 802.11g Wi-Fi Certified wireless connection guarantees connectivity to LAN or Internet points in airports and other public environments. TravelMate 6000 notebooks also offer flexible Web and e-mail connections with a 56Kbps ITU V.92 modem/fax (with international PTT certification). The built-in 10/100/1000Mbps Wake-on-LAN Fast Ethernet adapter provides fast LAN and ADSL service connections in the office.
Acer TravelMate 6000 models have a complete I/O port range, including four USB 2.0, one infrared (FIR) port, a VGA connector for an external monitor, audio in/out jacks and a PCMCIA Type II CardBus slot. High-speed connections with multimedia peripherals such as video cameras, video systems and digital audio devices are supported via the Firewire IEEE 1394 or DVI port, while the S-Video out port provides effortless connection to the TV. All units are equipped with a 4-in-1 card reader supporting Secure Digital, SmartMedia, MultiMediaCard and Memory Stick.
The optional Acer EasyPort docking station guarantees optimal connections with a single structure able to replicate all signals and power.
For security conscious users, Acer TravelMate 6000 series includes, in addition to the classic BIOS and login password, a SmartCard reader and Platinum Secret software allow the user to protect the notebook and crucial data by simply removing the card.

Notebooks are pre-installed with Microsoft Windows XP Home or Professional Operating System with Recovery CD and the following software: Adobe Acrobat Reader, Norton AntiVirus (trial version) , PlatinumSecret solution for security management and SmartCard and NTI CD Maker to "burn" CD-RW or DVD-RW.
The standard warranty for all Acer notebooks is one year International and users can opt for the new AcerAdvantage service that now extends the warranty to three years with accident coverage.
