Rectron has introduced AOpen`s new edge series the XC-Cube PC, featuring the company`s SilenTek technology, to South African consumers.
The XC-Cube is small - not bigger than an ordinary toaster - easy to assemble, easy to use, and time and space efficient, making it an essential part of every household`s media entertainment.
This first launch of the XC-Cube features two of the industry`s most dominant PC platforms - Intel and AMD. "The XC-Cube is set to shake-up the SA appliance market, as it features two well-known platforms - offered in a small but powerful packaging," says Reon Coetzee, marketing manager of Rectron.
XC Cube offers Internet connectivity, "video chatting" functionality, LAN gaming and a storage centre. Other key features include a front USB, SPDIF Audio and IEEE1394.
AOpen`s SilenTek technology ensures the XC-Cube`s fan speed is automatically monitored and adjusted by a "noise killer" mechanism. It also reduces the power supply`s loading and counters system over-heating.
The Cube is also compatible with standard graphics card offerings, and offers support for CD-ROM, CD-RW, DVD-ROM or a combo drive (DVD/CDRW).
Available in Apple White, Danube Blue, Cherry Red, Volcano Grey and Jazz Black, AOpen has also introduced same-colour-design peripherals that include an LCD monitor, keyboard, mouse and speakers.
The XC-Cube EZ65 is equipped with Intel 865G chipsets supporting FSB 800MHz Intel P4 CPU, and compatible with dual channel DDR400 memory, 8X AGP, and Serial ATA storage.
While EZ18 with nForce2 chipsets supports the FSB 333MHz AMD platform CPU as well as DDR333 memory and 8X AGP interface, and also features nVidia`s "nView" multi-display technology.
