PeopleSoft, a global eBusiness solutions provider, today announced Vantive Asset and Configuration Management (ACM), an innovative solution that helps businesses cut costs by enabling them to analyse and better manage their assets.
Through a relationship with Main Control Inc., PeopleSoft is offering Vantive ACM, which is tightly integrated with PeopleSoft`s Vantive HelpDesk application. MainControl is a leader in IT asset lifecycle management.
"Vantive ACM helps companies analyse and manage tangible and intangible assets such as computers, printers, hard drives, and software licenses," says PeopleSoft SA MD, Jan Coetzee. "For example, the solution`s audit tool allows customers to search a wide range of archived files and uncover hidden files so illegal software can be quickly detected and removed. Detecting the use of illegal software could potentially save companies millions of dollars in fines."
Other uses for Vantive ACM include:
Initiating, tracking and resolving employee requests for support.
Automating the workflow process.
Viewing problems in workflow and gathering information on the process from a single location.
Cataloging, managing and tracking company assets, including hardware and software.
Improving service to end-users while lowering Help Desk costs.
"With the addition of the new CRM Asset Management Application, PeopleSoft has extended its lead as the provider of the most comprehensive, feature-rich eCRM business solution available from a single vendor," says Sam Gallucci, executive VP and GM for PeopleSoft`s CRM division.
By integrating the ACM solution with the Vantive HelpDesk application, IT personnel can use inventory and configuration information to solve problems more efficiently and effectively. They can also proactively plan for changes in the computing environment like preparing employees for new software installations.
Vantive ACM has an open architecture that works with other Vantive applications, third-party enterprise resource planning solutions, legacy systems, and discovery tools (such as Tally NetCensus, SMS, Tivoli, HP OpenView, and Intel LANDesk). It is an essential tool for analysing help desk operations in depth - enabling managers to make better purchase decisions, improve service, and reduce costs.
