Computer Associates Africa has released a backup solution that enables IT organisations to apply best practice data management to their critical mobile devices.
BrightStor Mobile Backup 4.0 eliminates the complexity and high costs that prevent many companies from properly protecting the data residing on their mobile systems.
Inadequate protection of data has become a significant risk factor as mobile systems proliferate and are used to perform a greater range of core business tasks.

The solution was developed in direct response to companies` needs for a simple solution that addresses the loss of critical on the growing number of mobile devices.
Once in place, BrightStor Mobile Backup 4.0 runs automated backup in a way that is transparent to end users. These backups can be schedules at specific times or triggered by pre-defined events, such as a minimum number of data base entries.
Additional features designed to ease protection of mobile data include:
* "Out-of-the box" pre-defined backup configurations;
* Simplified management interface; and
* Built-in tutorial with step-by-step backup instructions.
Importantly, BrightStor Mobile Backup 4.0 scales from ten to thousands of users.

BrightStor Enterprise Backup 10.5 has been benchmarked as the fastest recovery and backup solution for multi-terabyte databases. In testing with Microsoft last fall, for example, a beta version of BrightStor Enterprise Backup 10.5 achieved a record-setting 2.6 terabyte-per-hour archival backup of a Microsoft SQL Server 2000 database running on Windows 2000 Datacenter Server. BrightStor Enterprise Backup`s restore performance achieved a sustained rate of 2.2TB/hr.
